July. 7th - Happy Fish = Happy Anglers
Oh man....for those of you contemplating whether or not to come fishing up here.....GET UP HERE! Fishing is ON!
The fish are moving, rising, diving for food and enticed to the surface with some great immitations....Fish are happy and so are the anglers!
The water levels are wicked, the inside corners look deliciously fish friendly and the clarity is marvelous......As Paul mentioned the water levels are still a bit high, but who cares, the fishing is great. The more flow right now means that you can sneak your boat through some otherwise not so boat friendly areas on the river. We did just that, parked the boat a few times and walked into the back channels and were not disappointed. It was great, we didn't see another boat out there yesterday and only came across a few bank fisherman who were having just as much success as we were.
There were a number of substantial hatches to mention ...PMD's gracefully dancing around, Big massive Mahogany Duns looking like helicopters flying through the air and caddis doing there normal randomness dance. We were a bit lower down and didn't get into any Green Drakes, but heard they were out in droves on the upper stretches. Kiddy UP!
The rain came out for awhile and hung around long enough to get us soaked and bring out the layers, but it didn't phase us, as we were too busy landing hogs. I think we floated through Hogville as all the fish we saw yesterday were decent size.
We just got a new shipment of flies in and have more than enough stock to fill you up for a day on the river. Our selection is huge and you can't go wrong by taking the advice from the shop rats.
If you are looking for a quiet section of the river to fish.....you can't go wrong right now as there are not too many fisherman out there !
